The Workings Behind A Moissanite

Workings Behind A Diamond Simulant - Eclat by Oui Blog

Moissanites are an innovative blessing; they appear visually indifferent to the coveted diamond but circumvent the frivolous price tag and moral dilemmas that come with it. To most people, the process to achieving the perfect moissanite is shrouded in mystery. Don’t take our word for it though, take the time to read through this article and understand how moissanites are created. The confidence in our product will then follow.

Laboratory Made

At Eclat by Oui, our journey to creating the most exquisite moissanite begin in the depths of our Hong Kong factory. Our moissanites are made from the highest purity silicon carbide in its crystalline form. Unlike mined diamonds, which are made of carbon, moissanite is a distinct gemstone composed of silicon carbide and grown under controlled laboratory conditions. Each stone is then precision-cut and polished to maximise its exceptional brilliance and fire, and to reflect the optical brilliance of diamonds.

While moissanite is chemically and structurally different from a diamond, its remarkable optical properties give it a bright, diamond-like appearance with even greater light dispersion.

With a hardness of 9.5 on the Moh’s scale, moissanites are one of the hardest gemstones available, making it highly resistant to scratching and exceptionally suited for everyday wear. Regardless of their structural difference, our laboratory made moissanites accurately resemble natural diamonds and are leaps ahead of the common materials used in moissanites.

Cutting

The cut in any stone, regardless of natural or moissanite, depends greatly on the harnessed skill of an experienced cutter. At Eclat by Oui, we engage some of the most experienced and skilled craftsmen. Upon evaluating the moissanites carefully, they will determine how much of the stone should be cut to produce a product with the highest clarity.

Our craftsmen are trained with a keen eye and methodical mind. They take great care to ensure that all moissanites are cut to pre-determined mathematical specification to allow the maximum amount of light to be reflected. Prior to approving a product, our skilled craftsmen will inspect each gemstone under a microscope to ensure our high quality standards are met.

Our moissanites are Gemological Research Association (GRA) certified, and we only select D Colour (the highest grade on the colour scale) and VVS1 Clarity (extremely minute inclusions that are difficult to detect even under magnification) moissanites. This places our moissanites at the highest end of the colourless and exceptionally clear scale.

After understanding the process in which these moissanites are created, we hope that you can now make a more informed decision to buy our moissanite rings, bands, earrings, ear studs, bracelets, bangles, and necklaces online. At Eclat by Oui, we use the highest quality materials and employ the skills of experienced craftsmen to ensure that the moissanite jewellery you receive is the best it can be.
